Why this works

A small dessert with moderate energy, relatively low protein and a significant saturated fat and sugar content from chocolate and honey.

Calcium and iodine. Yoghurt contributes calcium, with some iodine depending on the dairy used, supporting bone health.

Polyphenols from chocolate. Chocolate provides cocoa polyphenols, which may offer antioxidant benefits, though this depends on cocoa content.

Vitamin C and fibre from berries. Berries add a small amount of fibre and vitamin C, helping to improve the micronutrient profile of the dessert.

Method

  1. Melt the chocolate gently in a heatproof bowl over a pan of barely simmering water, stirring until smooth.
  2. Stir in the butter if using for extra gloss, then let it cool slightly.
  3. Spoon the yoghurt into serving glasses or bowls.
  4. Swirl the melted chocolate through the yoghurt or layer it on top.
  5. Chill for 10 minutes before serving if you want a firmer texture.
