Why this works
A fairly energy-dense dessert-style parfait with moderate protein, but relatively high sugar and saturated fat from the chocolate, snack bar and honey.
Dairy nutrients. Yoghurt provides protein, calcium and iodine, supporting bone health and satiety, depending on the type used.
Berry antioxidants. Berries add vitamin C and polyphenols, which contribute antioxidant benefits, though the quantity is modest.
Higher sugar load. The chocolate bar, snack bar and honey contribute a significant amount of added sugar, so this is best treated as an occasional treat.
Method
- Break the snack bar and chocolate bar into rough chunks.
Aim for uneven pieces rather than neat shards so you get a mix of crunchy bites and smaller crumbs; if the bars are very soft, chill them briefly first so they snap cleanly instead of smearing.
- Spoon a layer of yoghurt into serving glasses or bowls.
Use the back of a spoon to nudge the yoghurt right to the edges of the glass, which keeps the layers visible and tidy. If the yoghurt is loose, give it a quick stir first so it sits in a smooth, even layer.
- Scatter over some of the chopped chocolate and snack bar pieces.
Sprinkle the pieces while the yoghurt is still cold so they stay distinct and do not sink straight through. Leave a few larger chunks for texture and a more dramatic finish.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with extra chocolate on top.
Keep the final layer level rather than mounded so the top looks clean and the garnish does not slide off. If using grated chocolate, add it just before serving so it stays in crisp shavings.
- Chill for 5 minutes if you like a firmer dessert, then serve.
Five minutes in the fridge is enough to take the edge off and slightly firm the yoghurt without dulling the texture. Do not leave it much longer unless you want the chocolate to soften and the berries to weep.
