Why this works

A sweet, protein-containing dessert-style parfait that is fairly energy-dense and high in added sugars, with some calcium and gut-friendly dairy.

Protein and calcium from Greek yoghurt. Greek yoghurt provides a useful protein boost along with calcium for bone health.

Added sugars from jam and honey. Most of the sugar comes from jam and honey, so this is best treated as a dessert rather than an everyday breakfast.

Some fibre from granola. Granola adds a small amount of fibre and crunch, though the overall fibre content remains modest.

Method

  1. Stir the Greek yogurt with the lemon juice and a splash of milk until smooth and spoonable.
  2. Spoon a layer of yogurt into glasses, then add a spoonful of jam.
  3. Repeat the layers until used up.
  4. Chill for 5 minutes if you have time, then serve cold.
