Why this works

A moderate-calorie, protein-rich parfait with some added sugar from the vanilla yoghurt and little fibre.

Protein from dairy. Greek yoghurt and cottage cheese provide a useful protein boost for satiety and muscle maintenance.

Calcium and phosphorus. This dairy-based recipe contributes calcium and phosphorus, which support bone and teeth health.

Added sugar to note. Vanilla yoghurt typically contains added sugar, so the total sugar is higher than in plain yoghurt-based desserts.

Method

  1. Stir the cottage cheese and Greek yoghurt together until mostly smooth.
  2. Spoon half the mixture into two serving glasses.
  3. Top with vanilla yoghurt, then repeat the layers.
  4. Finish with a tiny pinch of black pepper if you want a subtle savoury contrast, or leave plain.
  5. Chill for 10 minutes before serving.
