Why this works

Light, fruit-led dessert with moderate carbohydrates and naturally occurring sugars, but added sugar keeps it from being low sugar.

Vitamin C rich. Mango and mixed fruit contribute vitamin C, which supports immune function and iron absorption.

Contains beneficial fibre. The fruit provides fibre to support digestive health, though the yoghurt layer keeps the total moderate.

Added sugar concern. One tablespoon of sugar increases total and free sugars, which is the main nutritional drawback of this dish.

Method

  1. Peel and dice the mango into small pieces, reserving a few neat cubes for the top.
  2. If using larger fruit, cut it into bite-sized pieces so it layers neatly in the glasses.
  3. Stir the yoghurt with the sugar until smooth and lightly sweetened.
  4. Spoon a layer of yoghurt into two serving glasses, then add mango and a layer of fruit.
  5. Repeat the layers until the glasses are filled, finishing with yoghurt on top.
  6. Scatter over the reserved mango and fruit, then chill for 5 minutes before serving.
