Why this works
A sweet, energy-dense dessert with moderate protein from yoghurt but relatively high sugar from jam, preserved fruit and honey.
Calcium from yoghurt. Yoghurt contributes useful calcium for bone health, though the exact amount will vary with the yoghurt type used.
Added sugars are prominent. Jam, preserved fruit and honey significantly raise the free sugar content, making this more of a treat than an everyday snack.
Some gut-friendly potential. If the yoghurt contains live cultures, it may support gut health, though the granola and sweeteners increase overall sugar.
Method
- Spoon a layer of yoghurt into two glasses or bowls.
- Top with a spoonful of jam and a little preserved fruit, including some of the syrup if you like it sweeter.
- Repeat the layers until the glasses are full.
- Finish with a final swirl of yoghurt and a few pieces of fruit on top.
- Chill for 5 minutes before serving if you have time.
