Why this works

A hearty, energy-dense meal that is high in fat and sodium, with moderate protein and relatively low fibre.

Protein from the burger. The burger provides a useful amount of protein, which supports muscle maintenance and satiety.

Calcium and live cultures. Greek yoghurt contributes calcium and, if live yoghurt is used, beneficial cultures for gut health.

Sodium load. Adding 1 tsp salt makes this dish quite high in sodium, which may be a concern for blood pressure.

Method

  1. Cook the chips according to the packet instructions until golden and crisp.
  2. Mix the coleslaw with the yoghurt in a bowl, then season with salt and black pepper to make a quick yoghurt slaw.
  3. Shape the burger mixture into 2 patties if needed, then season lightly with salt and black pepper.
  4. Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat and cook the burgers for 3–5 minutes on each side, until cooked through and browned.
  5. Warm the burger buns if using, then build the burgers and serve immediately with the chips and yoghurt slaw on the side.
