Why this works

Protein-rich and filling, but high in saturated fat and sodium due to bacon and cheddar.

High-quality protein. Eggs, bacon and cheddar provide a substantial amount of protein per serving, supporting satiety and maintenance of muscle tissue.

Calcium and vitamin B12. Cheddar and eggs contribute calcium, vitamin B12 and other B vitamins, which support bone health and energy metabolism.

High salt and saturated fat. Bacon and cheese make this dish relatively high in sodium and saturated fat, so it may be less suitable for frequent consumption if you are watching heart health.

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (Fan 180°C, 392°F, Gas Mark 6).
  2. Cook the bacon until well browned and spread it in a baking dish.
  3. Whisk the eggs with the milk and pour over the bacon.
  4. Mix the breadcrumbs with the cheddar cheese and scatter over the top.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the egg is set and the topping is crisp.
  6. Leave to settle for a few minutes before serving.
