Why this works
A moderately indulgent, protein-containing dessert with relatively high sugar and some saturated fat, best enjoyed as an occasional treat.
Protein from Greek yoghurt. Greek yoghurt contributes protein and calcium, which can support satiety and bone health.
Saturated fat to note. Depending on the chocolate dessert used, this pot may contain a moderate amount of saturated fat.
Sugar content. The chocolate dessert likely contributes most of the sugar, so portion size is important for blood sugar management.
Method
- Spoon a little chocolate dessert into the base of two serving glasses.
Use the back of the spoon to spread the first layer right to the edges so the glass looks neat and the base is fully covered. Avoid pressing too hard, or the layer can smear up the sides and look messy.
- Add a layer of Greek yoghurt, then repeat the layers until the glasses are filled.
Aim for clean, even layers by gently spooning the yoghurt on top rather than tipping it in, which helps keep the colours distinct. If the chocolate layer is soft, chill it for a few minutes first so the yoghurt does not sink through.
- Chill for 10 minutes if you have time, then serve cold.
A short chill helps the layers settle and the texture become slightly firmer, but do not leave them so long that the yoghurt loses its creamy softness. Serve straight from the fridge for the best cool, clean finish.
- If desired, add an extra spoonful of chocolate dessert on top before serving.
Add the final spoonful just before serving so it stays glossy and does not thin out from condensation. A small swirl on top gives a more polished look than a flat dollop.
