Why this works
A small sweet dessert with moderate calories, low protein, and a high proportion of saturated fat from coconut and chocolate components.
Saturated fat. Coconut yoghurt and chocolate dessert likely contribute a relatively high saturated fat content, so this is best kept as an occasional treat.
Low protein. This dessert is not a strong source of protein despite the yoghurt component, so it is unlikely to be very filling.
Calcium contribution. The yoghurt may provide some calcium, though the overall amount will depend on whether the product is fortified and the chocolate dessert used.
Method
- Divide the chocolate dessert between two serving glasses or bowls.
Use a spoon to level the chocolate dessert so the two portions look neat and even, rather than pressing it down hard and smearing the sides of the glass.
- Top with the coconut Greek style yoghurt.
Spoon the yoghurt gently over the back of a spoon to keep the layers distinct and stop the chocolate base from being dragged upwards.
- Swirl lightly with a spoon for a marbled effect, if you like.
Make only one or two shallow turns with the spoon so the colours stay visible; overmixing will turn the pot a muddy brown rather than a clear swirl.
- Chill for 5 minutes before serving, or serve immediately.
A brief chill helps the top set slightly and the flavours settle, but if serving straight away keep the glasses cold so the dessert stays thick and well layered.
