Why this works

A modest-portion dessert with some protein and vitamin C, but relatively high in added sugar from the jam.

Vitamin C from strawberries. Strawberries contribute vitamin C and a small amount of folate, supporting immunity and skin health.

Calcium and protein from milk. Milk provides protein and calcium, which support muscle maintenance and bone health.

Added sugar content. Most of the sugar comes from jam, so this is better treated as an occasional dessert rather than an everyday snack.

Method

  1. Pour the milk into a saucepan and warm it gently over a medium heat until steaming, but do not let it boil.
  2. Whisk in the jam until it dissolves and the milk is evenly flavoured.
  3. Spoon the mixture into small serving glasses or bowls and chill for at least 2 hours, until lightly set.
  4. Slice the strawberries and arrange them on top just before serving.
