Why this works

A rich, savoury skillet dish that is high in protein and energy but also high in saturated fat and sodium, so it is best enjoyed occasionally.

Bacon provides protein and B vitamins. Bacon contributes protein, vitamin B12 and niacin, but it is also a major source of salt and saturated fat.

Orange pepper adds vitamin C. The pepper boosts vitamin C and carotenoids, supporting immune health and antioxidant intake.

Cheese and butter raise saturated fat. The cheese and butter increase calcium intake, but they also push saturated fat quite high for a small portion.

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the bacon and cook until it starts to crisp.
  3. Stir in the sliced orange pepper and cook for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  4. Add the grated cheese and cover the pan for 1-2 minutes until melted.
  5. Serve immediately.
