Succulent chicken is pan-roasted and finished with a glossy honey, HP sauce and red onion chutney glaze. Crispy bacon adds smokiness, while a little pickled sharpness cuts through the sweetness.

Why this works

High-protein main with moderate calories, but relatively high in saturated fat, sugar and sodium due to bacon, honey, chutney and added salt.

High-quality protein. Chicken provides a substantial amount of complete protein, supporting muscle maintenance and satiety.

Sodium and saturated fat concern. Bacon, butter, HP sauce and added salt push sodium and saturated fat higher than ideal for frequent intake.

Added sugars. Honey and red onion chutney contribute most of the dish's sugar content, which may be a consideration for blood glucose control.

Method

  1. Season the chicken lightly with salt and black pepper if using, then cook in a dry pan over a medium heat until golden on both sides and cooked through.
  2. In the same pan, cook the bacon until crisp, then remove and keep warm.
  3. Lower the heat and add the butter, honey, HP sauce and red onion chutney, stirring until glossy and slightly thickened.
  4. Return the chicken and bacon to the pan and coat in the glaze for 1 minute.
  5. Serve hot with the sauce spooned over the top.
