Why this works
A rich, dessert-style fruit fool with moderate sugar and high saturated fat, best enjoyed as an occasional treat rather than an everyday choice.
Vitamin C from fruit. Strawberries and orange juice contribute vitamin C, which supports immune function and iron absorption.
Calcium present. The crème gastronomique adds some calcium and protein, though the overall dish is still energy-dense.
High saturated fat. The cream component is likely to make this recipe high in saturated fat, which is worth limiting if you are watching heart health.
Method
- Hull and chop the strawberries, then lightly crush half of them with a fork.
- Fold the strawberries into the PresiDENT crème gastronomique with a splash of orange juice.
- Spoon into glasses and top with the remaining strawberries.
- Chill for 5 minutes before serving if you have time.
