Why this works
A rich, energy-dense dessert that is high in sugar and saturated fat, best enjoyed as an occasional treat rather than an everyday food.
Chocolate flavonoids. Chocolate can provide small amounts of polyphenols, though this depends on cocoa content and overall portion size.
Calcium and fat from butter. Butter contributes some vitamin A and fat, but also raises the saturated fat content considerably.
Low fibre. Digestive biscuits add a little fibre, but the overall recipe remains low in fibre and is not very filling.
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (Fan 160°C, 356°F, Gas Mark 4). Grease a tart tin lightly with butter.
- Melt the butter gently, then stir it through crushed digestive biscuits to make a buttery base. Press the mixture firmly into the tart tin and bake for 10 minutes, then leave to cool.
- Break the chocolate into pieces and melt it gently over a bain-marie.
- Warm the honey in a small pan or microwave for a few seconds, then stir it into the melted chocolate until smooth and glossy.
- Add the melted butter to the chocolate mixture and mix until fully combined.
- Pour the filling into the cooled tart case and spread it evenly.
- Chill the tart for at least 2 hours, or until set, then slice and serve.
