Why this works
A light, protein-containing dessert with moderate added sugar from jam; best as an occasional treat rather than a low-sugar option.
Protein from dairy. Yoghurt and skyr provide a useful protein boost, which helps with satiety compared with a typical dessert.
Calcium source. Dairy ingredients contribute calcium for bone health, with a modest amount of phosphorus and B12 as well.
Added sugar from jam. Most of the sugar comes from the jam, so the overall dish is not especially blood-sugar friendly.
Method
- In a bowl, mix the yoghurt, vanilla skyr, orange juice and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and add a little pepper only if you want a subtle grown-up edge, though it is entirely optional.
- Divide the mixture between serving glasses or bowls and swirl the jam through the top.
- Chill for 5 minutes if you have time, then serve cold.
