Why this works

Very high in protein and very low in carbohydrate, but relatively high in saturated fat and sodium depending on the mince and hot sauce used.

High-quality protein. Beef mince and eggs provide a substantial amount of complete protein, supporting muscle repair and satiety.

Iron and B vitamins. Mince is a useful source of iron, zinc and vitamin B12, which are important for energy metabolism and red blood cell formation.

Higher saturated fat and sodium. Butter and regular beef mince increase saturated fat, while hot sauce can add a meaningful amount of sodium.

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a frying pan over a medium heat.
  2. Add the mince and cook until browned, breaking it up well.
  3. Stir in the hot sauce and cook for another 1-2 minutes so the mince is well coated.
  4. Make two small gaps in the mince and crack the eggs into them.
  5. Cover the pan and cook until the egg whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your liking.
  6. Serve immediately from the pan.
