Why this works

A high-protein, low-carbohydrate seafood dish that is relatively energy-dense due to butter and oil, with moderate sodium depending on added salt.

Lean protein. Prawns provide substantial protein with very little carbohydrate, supporting satiety and muscle maintenance.

Vitamin C and antioxidants. Lemon and parsley add vitamin C and plant compounds that support iron absorption and overall antioxidant intake.

Saturated fat and sodium. Butter increases saturated fat, and the added salt can raise sodium considerably, especially if seasoned heavily.

Method

  1. Melt the butter with the olive oil in a frying pan over a medium heat for 1 minute.
  2. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring so it does not catch.
  3. Tip in the prawns and season with salt and black pepper, then cook for 2 to 3 minutes until pink.
  4. Squeeze over the lemon juice and toss the prawns through the garlic butter for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir through the parsley and serve the garlic butter prawns hot with any pan juices spooned over the top.
