Why this works

A moderately energy-dense dessert with useful protein and fibre, but also notable saturated fat from butter and yoghurt.

Vitamin C. The apple and lemon contribute some vitamin C, which supports immune function and helps with iron absorption.

Fibre from chestnuts and apple. Chestnuts and apple provide dietary fibre, which can support digestive health and steadier blood sugar response.

Dairy nutrients. Greek yoghurt adds protein, calcium and iodine, though the exact amounts vary with fat content.

Method

  1. Peel and core the apple, then cut it into small wedges.
  2. Melt the butter in a small pan over a medium heat and add the apple. Cook for 5-6 minutes until just softened.
  3. Stir in the chestnuts and cook for another 2 minutes to warm through.
  4. Add a small squeeze of lemon juice.
  5. Spoon the warm mixture into bowls and top with Greek yoghurt and a little yoghurt swirled through.
  6. Serve immediately.
