Why this works

A fairly energy-dense pasta dish with good protein, but it is relatively high in salt and saturated fat, so it is best enjoyed occasionally as part of a balanced diet.

Protein from bacon, milk and cheese. Provides a moderate amount of protein, supporting muscle maintenance and satiety.

Calcium from dairy. Milk and cheese contribute calcium, which supports bone health.

Higher sodium and saturated fat. Bacon and cheese raise salt and saturated fat levels, which may be a consideration for heart health.

Method

  1. Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water until al dente, then drain.
  2. Fry the bacon in a pan until crisp and lightly browned.
  3. Add the tomato sauce and milk to the pan and simmer for 2-3 minutes to form a creamy sauce.
  4. Stir in the drained pasta and half the cheese until well coated.
  5. Serve topped with the remaining cheese.
